1. Level and outline. Hold the panel flat against the wall where you want it, check it sits level, and draw around the inside of the frame. That pencil line is your opening. Do not trace the outside of the frame.
2. Cut the drywall. Cut along the line with a drywall saw. Stay on the line: a hole that comes out slightly tight is easy to ease open, one that comes out too big is not.
3. Secure and install. Push the frame into the hole and fix the flange to the drywall. The flange laps over the cut edge on all four sides. Lift the door off its hinge if you want to paint or paper it on the bench, then clip it back on.

Wipe clean with a damp microfiber and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvent-based cleaners, which can haze the plastic.

Why this product

Built to drop in and stay quiet.

Will not rust

Molded UV-stabilized plastic, white the whole way through, so a scuff never shows a different colour underneath. The right pick for a bathroom, a laundry wall or under a sink.

Removable door

The leaf lifts off its concealed hinge, so you can paint or paper it on the bench and clip it back on. The hinge is not carrying the load every time you open it.

Paint or wallpaper

The face is lightly textured to grip paint and wallpaper paste. Prime with a plastic-bonding primer and it takes ordinary wall paint.

Install

One cut, then it clips in.

The only part that takes any care is the hole. Outline the inside of the frame, cut to that line, and the flange laps over the cut edge.

FAQ

Before you order

Don't see your question? Email support@brycehardware.com and a person will answer it.

The panel size is the size of the hole it fits. Rather than working from a figure, hold the panel flat against the wall where you want it and draw around the inside of the frame: that pencil line is your opening. Do not trace the outside of the frame, which is larger and is what laps over the cut edge once the panel is in. There is a Measurement Guide image in the photos on this page if you would rather see it drawn. The frame flange covers the cut edge on all four sides.

White, and white all the way through: the UV-stabilized plastic is molded white rather than coated, so a scuff does not show a different color underneath. The surface is lightly textured and takes paint or wallpaper. The product photos show the actual finish.

Both. The surface is textured to grip paint and wallpaper paste. For paint, light scuff with 220-grit, prime with a plastic-bonding primer, then use your wall paint; skipping the plastic primer is what makes paint peel off plastic. For wallpaper, score the door edge first so you can lift the leaf cleanly when you need access.

Plastic for utility access and anywhere damp: closets, garages, basements, under a sink, because UV-stabilized plastic cannot rust, and it is lighter to set into a ceiling. Steel where the panel is in plain sight and has to stay dead flat and take a knock. This is the plastic one.

Plumbing shutoffs and cleanouts, electrical junction boxes, cable runs, irrigation valves: anything you have to reach again without cutting the wall open. It is not fire-rated, so keep it out of a rated wall or ceiling assembly.

Exactly what I needed to cover access to a plumbing repair. Installed easily with minor trimming of drywall. Popped right in.

Nice access panel with hinged opening

I finished my basement and needed access to some of my water values that the sheetrock ceiling would cover. I put these in and love the ease of access. I like how the hinges on these, to allow me to swing the door open and push it shut when done. The plastic feels sturdy, and it feels like these will hold up.

Does the job!

The panel fits well and feels sturdy. It’s a little hard to open, but once it’s open, panel stays latched and connected to frame which makes it convenient.

very textured, sticky door

I don't personally like the textured finish, wish it were smooth. my biggest complaint is that the door doesn't operate very smoothly, it sticks/gets caught when i try to open/close it, but fortunately I don't need to do that very often as I'm just covering a hole for some speaker wiring i'm not using.

Quality lower than expected

Not sturdy enough for the contractor.
